About PVS

Home of the Panthers, Piermont Village School is a small rural school overlooking the Connecticut River.

A member of SAU 23, we have about 50 students in grades Pre-K-8.

We have morning Pre-Kindergarten , full-day Kindergarten and combined classes in grades 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, and 7 & 8, respectively. Classes are divided by grade level for math instruction.

Striving for excellence, we have implemented and continue to develop our mastery of specific curricular approaches including My Math, a standards based math program. We have designed and implemented reading and writing strategies and curricula across all grade levels. We seek to bring together social and academic learning throughout the day in all grades and have adopted the Responsive Classroom approach in our Pre-K-4 classrooms and Developmental Designs for Middle Schools in our 5-8 classrooms.

Our school wide behavior plan is based upon the principles of these researched approaches. Piermont Village School is charged with the education of students who range along the developmental continuum between the ages of four and fourteen years old. Our thoughtfully planned opportunities for leadership, cooperation, and community outreach, bringing children of all ages together in common purpose, creates a very important sense of hope in the future for students over the years.

Building tolerance, compassion, kindness, and fun into programming across grade levels is a goal at PVS. Some of PVS’s many traditions are Back To School Night, School Hike, Pumpkin Carving, Halloween Party, International and Science Fairs, Honor Roll Breakfasts, monthly birthday celebrations, Holiday Food Drive and Stations Day, School Play, 7th and 8th Grade Class Trip, Eighth Grade Graduation, etc.

Our very active Student Council meets weekly to discuss and act upon ideas to improve school life. These annual and biennial events contribute to a sense of community, and the expectation of these rituals excites and inspires all members of our school.

Piermont staff, families, and friends support our school with talent, time, and presence at events, truly coming together around sheltering and raising our children.

The vision of Piermont Village School is to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment that enables all learners to attain their full potential. Please feel encouraged to stop by and visit our beautiful village school.
