Piermont Village School Personal Electronics Expectations and Procedures 2025-2026
With the passage of the Cell Phone and Personal Electronic Devices ban for all schools in New Hampshire, we are making adjustments to our procedures at Piermont Village School in order to ensure we are giving students the best possible learning experience. Please be aware that the only electronic devices allowed to be used between the hours of 7:50am and 3:30pm are school issued chromebooks.
Upon entry, all students who bring a cell phone, smart watch, or personal electronic device will be expected to put these items into the locked cabinets provided for this purpose . Students will be able to retrieve their device(s) at the end of the school day or upon leaving the building.
Students are not allowed to use their devices from “Bell to Bell” meaning they cannot use them for any purpose during the school day, including lunch, study hall, recess, etc. Use of electronics devices at off-campus activities will be at teacher/administrator’s discretion.
If any student is uncomfortable with their phone being in the school’s possession, please keep all phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices at home.
In the event a student is using a device during the school day, without an extenuating circumstance, we will use the following procedure:
First Violation:
Student Device(s) will be confiscated, and locked in the front office.
Student will pick it up at the end of the day.
Second Violation
Student Device(s) will be confiscated, and locked in the front office.
Parent/Guardian will pick it up at the end of the day or as soon as possible.
Third Violation: (and any subsequent violation)
Student Device(s) will be confiscated, and locked in the front office.
Parent/Guardian and Student will be scheduled for a Meeting with School Administration. This meeting will be scheduled based on the administrators schedule. The Device will be returned following the meeting and development of a plan that all parties agree to.
Students will be assigned additional consequences during the meeting with administration, which could include detentions, restorative practices and the potential for suspension.
As this is a new procedure, please understand that we may need to revisit this procedure at some point during the school year. In the event of a change, families and students will be notified in writing in a timely manner.
